R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour is a Canadian/American original anthology horror-fantasy series, with episodes each half an hour long. The new show premiered on The Hub, which overtook Discovery Kids on October 10, 2010. The show had a sneak peek premiere on October 29, 2010 and returned on December 25, 2010 with two Christmas specials, after which the show is now on weekly. The series is based on The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It and Nightmare Hour anthology by R. L. Stine. The show has been renewed by The Hub for a second season as part of their 2011-2012 upfront.
Production[]
According to his Twitter, R.L. Stine says the show is similar to his previous series Goosebumps and that the show would be filmed in Vancouver, Canada. Filming for season 2 begins on the week of June 13, 2011 with a two part season 2 opener. Season 2 will premiere in fall 2011.
Premise[]
Like the TV series Goosebumps, every episode features a different cast in a scary situation. However, the storylines are much darker than its aforementioned predecessor, and some episodes serve as very dark morality tales. For example, in the episode "The Red Dress" the main character steals a dress from a blind witch, and as a result of her selfishness loses her sight.
